Mindful Life Guide
Education and Support for Your Personal Mindfulness Practice
Mindfulness meditation is purposefully paying attention to the present moment, without judgment. We begin by gently focusing on our breath and later move to more challenging focuses like emotions or interpersonal communications. Resting in present-moment awareness and generating empathy and compassion towards self and others, prunes some of the constant and often abusive chatter that keeps us stressed, unhappy and unfulfilled. It also allows us to see some of the subtler gifts that life has to offer. This can result in noticing positive feelings like joy and gratitude more often.
Practicing mindfulness will help you acquire skills of attention such as 1. Concentration (putting your attention where you want it), 2. Sensory clarity (getting clear on internal and external sensory experiences), and 3. Equanimity (not letting things upset your apple cart, learning to go with the flow). These skills help you to respond with purpose to life’s road blocks rather than react unskillfully often causing unwanted consequences.
Results vary depending on one’s commitment but numerous studies and anecdotal evidence have shown that as little as 5 minutes a day of practice can reap tangible physical and emotional benefits. My courses include the latest science and understanding of this form of meditation. I will work with you so that you can establish a practice of your own. You will learn why as well as how to begin a mindful lifestyle.
